Amid persistent conflicts in the Middle East, the Philippine Armed Forces (AFP) maintained the public's confidence in the nation's national security.
According to the military, there is no immediate threat to Philippine territory, and security operations throughout the nation are proceeding as usual. The AFP said, "There is now no real immediate threat to Philippine territory or to Filipino and foreign citizens in the nation."
Additionally, the authorities advised the public to be wary of disinformation spreading online and to only trust official government news. In response to recent U.S.-Israeli air strikes, Iran is said to have launched missiles at U.S. military installations in the Gulf area, prompting this warning.
The statement continued, "The AFP is prepared to help Filipinos in afflicted locations with repatriation and crisis response if instructed."
Social media posts, however, have expressed worries about potential risks associated with the nine Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) locations shared by Philippine and U.S. forces. The Department of National Defense (DND) deemed these statements to be untrue and stressed that its top priority is to assist the AFP with humanitarian and evacuation efforts if necessary.
