The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has raised the reward to P20 million for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest of notorious gaming tycoon Charlie "Atong" Ang. DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday, February 12.
"We are increasing the bounty for Atong Ang to 20 million pesos for information leading to his arrest. We are serious about this," Remulla said. "This is real. We will pay the reward once we receive credible information that leads to his capture." He added that the funds for the reward come from confidential allocations by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the DILG for high-profile cases.
Authorities have been trying to locate Atong Ang for years over several alleged gaming-related offenses, including operating unlicensed online gambling activities. The tycoon is reportedly linked to businesses that violated licensing rules and interfered with legitimate gaming operations across the country.
The P20 million reward highlights the government's commitment to apprehending Atong Ang and reflects closer cooperation between the DILG, the PNP, and other law enforcement agencies. Officials are calling on the public to share any useful information, assuring that all tips will be treated with complete confidentiality.
The announcement is part of the government's wider crackdown on illegal gambling in the Philippines, aiming to tighten regulations, dismantle illegal networks, and safeguard the public from unlawful gaming operations tied to prominent individuals.
