Authorities have confirmed that four people died and over 1,000 devotees required medical attention during this year's Traslacion of the Black Nazarene.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and Quiapo Church officials reported that the fatalities included three devotees and one unidentified man, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old.
Fr. Robert Arellano, spokesperson for Traslacion 2026, clarified that while three devotees died during the procession, the passing of photojournalist Itoh Son, who was covering the traditional Pahalik, was not directly caused by the Traslacion.
Medical teams treated 1,057 individuals during the event, which drew a record crowd of 9,640,290 devotees, according to final counts from the PNP, Quiapo Church, and the Manila City Government.
This year's Traslacion, lasting nearly 31 hours, became the longest and most attended procession in history.
