YMS Construction Trading owner Sally Santos has refunded over P15 million to the Department of Justice in relation to alleged irregularities tied to flood control projects.
DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez confirmed that Santos returned about P15 million to the department as part of the restitution required under her memorandum of agreement with the DOJ, which covers cooperation with the government in the ongoing flood control project investigations. "I just received the word that the armored vehicles that arrived earlier today carried the amount of more or less P15M as part of the partial restitution by Sally Santos pursuant to the terms of her MOA," Martinez said.
Atty. Polo Martinez explained that the refund is tied to the continuing probe into the alleged irregularities surrounding flood control projects linked to SYMS Construction Trading. He also said the Department of Justice will disclose additional information as the case progresses.
Earlier, the owner of SYMS Construction Trading admitted to delivering roughly P245 million in cash to a DPWH office in a single day. She also told investigators that the total amount she may have handed over to the same office from 2022 to the present could reach about P1 billion.
