Quezon City creates Persons with Disability Affairs Office

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has signed Executive Order No. 10 which established the Quezon City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (QC-PDAO) to provide authority to effectively address the issues and concerns of Persons with Disabilities.The executive order was issued to implement QC Ordinance no. SP-2085, S-2011 (Ordinance organizing and establishing QC-PDAO) in accordance with Section 40(B)(1) of RA-7277 otherwise known as the "Magna Carta for Persons with Disability."
QC PDAO is set to be the lead agency which will ensure the efficient and potent delivery of social services necessary to enhance the health, physical fitness, economic and social well-being of PWDs in the metropolis.
Initial members of PDAO assigned by Mayor Bautista are Mr. Arnold de Guzman from the City Planning and Development Office and Renato Cada of the city's Public Employment Service Office.
Important functions of the PDAO are to act as a consultative body for concerns in PWD sector, monitor compliance to the BP 344 or Accessibility Law, enjoin participation of Non-government organizations and Peoples organizations concerned to the PWDs and to come up with plans and programs for the promotion of the welfare of persons with disabilities.
