Detecting anxiety and depression is one of the most important step to recovery. To tell if you or a loved one is suffering from depression, you will have to know at least five of the most common symptoms.
These symptoms will affect your self-image in the following ways – feeling hopeless, feeling guilty, feeling worthless, feeling helpless, and feeling empty. If you feel any of these ways on a daily or regular basis, you may be suffering from depression. Other common symptoms are loss of interest in the activities that you enjoy the most and a decrease in energy in general. If you find yourself sulking away from society, be sure to confide in a close relative or a friend how things are going.
Depressed mood is not necessarily a psychiatric disorder. It is a normal reaction to certain life events, a symptom of some medical conditions and a side effect of some medical treatments. Thinking of such bad things or negative will lead to depression. If you think you do not deserve to be happy sometimes you also feel that you don't have any rights to live in this earth and it may lead to depression.
There are many reasons to be depressed but you yourself know why you became depressed. Sometimes you think that you are depressed though you are not. One of the common reasons why you became depressed is because you are not comfortable with your decision or act and you think of it every day.
Another thing is that you do something wrong and your conscience is definitely define your depression.
So if you think you have any of these symptoms, you just might have a mild case of depression. Remember, however, that for depression to be depression and not just sadness, the effects have to persist for two weeks or more in length. Whatever the source of your feelings, talking with a good friend always helps.
Here are the eight Tips to Avoid Becoming Depressed:
Is it possible to avoid depression? Depression is something that we can avoid by cultivating the opposite – happiness. It is very important that we also know how to avoid from a depression.
Here are some tips for avoiding depression:
1. Offer goodwill to others. If we offer goodwill to other people this creates a powerful positive energy. This is very important that we socialized by means of giving out to others so that we can find some source of positive energy.
2. Learn to get thoughts from others. Thoughts play a very significant role in determining our state of mind. It is also good to get some thoughts to others especially if the people around you keep positive thoughts in life. You can apply it to your daily basis that will be helpful to ease your depression.

3. Keep Busy. It is good that we keep ourselves busy to forget depression. When we get involved in other activities that we enjoy it takes us out of ourselves. Activity forces us to do something constructive, and does not allow us to dwell on our depressed state of mind.
4. Avoid Feelings of guilt. If we have made a mistake, feelings of guilt will not help alleviate the situation. We are seeking to avoid feelings of guilt for it will not bring significance to you. Instead of feeling guilty we should seek to concentrate on doing the right thing.
5. Live a Balanced Life. We should focus our time in balanced. Have time for relaxation, bonding with family and friends. As much as possible pursue how to keep life in balanced.
6. Share Problems. There is a saying "no man is an island" means you must know how to share your feelings. Our friends will not be able to solve our problems. However, simply having someone to talk to and share difficulties is a tremendous help in being able to work through our own problems.
8. Proper exercise and eating healthy foods. This can also help to avoid depression. Sometimes depression came from the food we eat. Proper diet and exercise really helps. (KHM)
