Incumbent Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto yesterday exhorted residents to support him and the entire ticket of the administration's Liberal Party and their allied organizations in next year's polls saying their team is what is needed to propel the city into further progress and development.
This as the Mayor filed his Certificate of Candidacy at the Commission on Election office in Pasay City accompanied by his entire slate and hundreds of Pasay City residents who trooped to the poll body's office to show their support.
Accompanying the 58-year old local chief executive in filing their respective COCs were her sister, incumbent Pasay City Rep. Imelda Calixto-Rubiano (LP) and the mayor's running mate, Noel Bayona (LP), and councilors for the city's 1st District, Eduardo Advincula and Richard Advincula, Alberto Alvina, Pinky Lyn Francisco, Lexter Ibay, and Jennifer Roxas, all of the Liberal Party.
For the city's 2nd District, the administration's candidates were Arnel Regino Arceo, Reynaldo Padua, Ian Vendivel, Briann Kristian Bayona, Ileana Ibay and Edita Vergel de Dios.
In filing their COCs, Calixto called on Pasay residents to ensure the landslide win of the administration's slate in the 2013 mid-term polls to ensure that the various reforms and programs he implemented since 2010 would continue.
"Very successful po ang ating filling today. Masayangmasaya ang mga tao at makikita natin na ang iba't ibang kulay ng politika ay nagkasama-sama ngayon," Calixto said after he filed his COC around 9 a.m adding that "he will continue all the projects for the continuous progress of our City."
Calixto has been largely credited for improving the image of Pasay City. He recently unveiled his successful "Travel City" program that aims to increase tourist arrivals and increase foreign and domestic investments.
Among the programs and projects that Calixto cited are the Take Care I Care Green Card, the Malibay Community Center, Dental and Medical missions, giving of free wheelchairs for senior citizens, Special Program for Employment of Students, Tulong Panghanap-buhay sa ating Disadvantage Workers, Livelihood for indigent residents, and free clean water for all barangays, among others.
Also, under Calixto's term the local police were able to receive new computer sets and additional motorcycles while the Bureau of Fire and Protection also received additional fire trucks. The Pasay City General Hospital received 5 Dialysis Machines, CT Scan Machine, ambulance and multi-cabs for barangays among others.
In 2010, then outgoing city vice mayor Calixto trounced incumbent mayor Wenceslao Trinidad, Consuelo Dy and four others where he garnered 59,087 votes. - pasay.gov.ph
