Are you a coffee lover? If you are then you will have more reasons to love it. According to the study done by researchers from the National Cancer Institute in the US, adults who drink coffee whether its caffeinated or decaffeinated have lesser risk of early death compare to non-coffee-drinkers.
Based from the results presented in New England Journal of Medicine, the java drinkers particularly those who drank three or more cups a day were less probable to die from a number of illnesses, counting heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and infections, though researchers found no link with cancer.
Neal Freedman, head researcher together with his members studied the connection between coffee drinking and risk of death in 400,000 American men and women aged 50 to 71 that joined in the NIH-AARP Diet and Health Study.
Freedman said that the mechanism by which coffee protects against risk of death if indeed the finding reflects a causal relationship is not clear, since coffee contains more than 1,000 compounds that might potentially affect health.
On the other hand, he said that there are still more research needs to be completed to fully recognize the defensive components of coffee.
He added that these results do provide some reassurance that coffee drinking does not adversely affect health.
Health specialists do not suggested overdrinking of coffee. There was a study done by a US-based Mayo Clinic, they recommends no greater than two to four cups a day, if more than that can cause you insomnia, upset stomach, and anxiety.
