QC judge named new Court of Appeals magistrate

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a Quezon City Regional Trial Court judge to the Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court said.
In its official Twitter account, the SC Public Information Office posted the transmittal letter of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno appointing Quezon City RTC Judge Tita Marilyn Payoyo-Villordon. The appointment was dated June 28, 2017 but was received by the Supreme Court on Oct. 5, 2017.
Villordon replaces CA Associate Justice Francisco Acosta, who retired from the judiciary upon reaching the age of 70 last April 2.
"I am pleased to transmit herewith the appointment letter of Tita Marilyn Payoyo-Villordon, Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals (vice Francisco Acosta), signed by President Rodrigo Duterte," the document reads.
Among the cases handled by Villordon include the conviction of a Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office official last March who admitted to misappropriating P1.87 million intended for lotto and sweepstakes prizes, and the illegal possession of fireams, explosives and ammunition case against a former governor of Abra.
