6,720 Kapampangan indigents get cash aid, free PhilHealth

MEXICO, Pampanga — At least 6,720 indigent Kapampangans have received cash assistance and free PhilHealth member data records (MDRs) under the provincial government's program "Alaga Ka, para Maayos na Buhay."
Governor Lilia Pineda on Friday said the distribution held separately in the towns of Mexico, Sta. Ana and Apalit aims to help the poorest of the poor avail of the basic health services in rural health units and accredited government-run hospitals.
Pineda said the beneficiaries were identified through the national household targeting system for poverty reduction by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development.
She said that the Duterte administration is keen on providing free medical assistance to financially incapable patients who are seeking consultations, examinations, and medications especially those confined in government hospitals.
The governor said that the Duterte administration has allotted P105 million for the province's medical assistance program alone.
"I am urging the recipients of the program to avail of the basic health services from 11 district and provincial hospitals in the province. Likewise, I am also appealing to the elders to immediately avail of their senior citizens card, which is guaranteed as PhilHealth membership card automatically," she added. (PNA)
