Gov't to hold Serbisyo Caravan in Quezon City to highlight programs

MANILA — Government agencies under the Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cluster (HDPRCC) will hold "Serbisyo Caravan" at the Commonwealth Elementary School in Quezon City on Saturday to deliver basic services and inform the people about its anti-poverty programs.
Last month, lead agencies under the HDPRCC launched the Kilos Sambayanan in Tondo, Manila to highlight government programs in reducing poverty in the country.
Among the government agencies under HDPRCC are the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).
Saturday's event will start around 9:30 a.m. with an opening prayer and the singing of the national anthem at the school's covered court.
To deliver the welcome and opening remarks are DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
Various agencies will explain in audio visual presentations (AVPs) the government programs on education, health, livelihood, and social protection, among others.
The AVPs include messages from DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones; Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Chairperson Patricia Licuanan; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Guiling Mamondiong; Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial; National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairperson Cariza "Aiza" Seguerra; and orientation on Kilos Sambayanan by National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Secretary Liza Maza.
After the AVP presentation, pupils from the Commonwealth Elementary School will present an intermission number.
An open forum with the community will also be held to be emceed by beauty queen Venus Raj, Marco delos Reyes, teachers and social workers.
A medical mission and provision of basic services will be held in the afternoon.
The event is under the Duterte's administration's poverty reduction agenda, "Kilos" that converges all sectors of society to tackle poverty and highlight government programs in reducing poverty in the country. (PNA)
