DFA: No report of Filipinos affected by China's Sichuan quake

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said there were no reports of any Filipino affected by the earthquake in Sichuan Province in China.
"The Consulate General continues to closely coordinate with the Filipino community to ensure that Filipinos in the area are safe and that those who may have been affected by the earthquake could be provided needed consular assistance," it said in a statement.
Filipinos in Sichuan were advised to contact the Consulate General in Chongqing through the assistance to nationals hotline.
A magnitude 6.5-earthquake struck a remote area in southwest China's Sichuan Province Tuesday night, killing at least seven people and injuring 88 people. (PNA)
