Batangas to host Philippine Development Plan Roadshow

BATANGAS — The Batangas provincial government will play host to the Calabarzon Roadshow of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 on July 28.
This is to promote awareness and disseminate information on the country's development plan, programs and projects under President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration.
Batangas Public Information Officer Jenelyn Aguiler told the Philippine News Agency on Saturday that the provincial government through Governor Hermilando Mandanas, as chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC) for the Calabarzon Region, will welcome the staging of the PDP roadshow at the Batangas Provincial Capitol.
Mandanas also chairs the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Development Committee for Luzon.
Batangas forms part of the Calabarzon region that includes the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon.
The Calabarzon roadshow with the lead agency NEDA Region IV-A (Calabarzon) in cooperation with the Batangas provincial government aims to bring public awareness on the salient features of the development framework under the Duterte Administration, Aguilera said.
The event also aims to enlist mass-based support from the public and private sectors, non-government organizations and civil society to craft strategies to engage citizens and various stakeholders for all-inclusive development programs and projects.
According to NEDA, the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 was approved by President Duterte during the NEDA Board meeting in MalacaƱang last February 20.
NEDA said the PDP is the first medium-term plan to be anchored on a national long-term vision, or "AmBisyon Natin 2040", which represents the collective vision and aspirations of Filipinos for themselves and for the country.
The PDP also takes off from the Duterte Administration's 0 + 10 point Socioeconomic Agenda and is informed by inputs from the cross-section of stakeholders and the general public.
Various resource speakers are invited to present and discuss three main strategies or commitments for the development thrusts such as "Malasakit" or strengthening the Filipino's desirable cultural traits and values; "Pagbabago" or increasing opportunities to improve the Filipino standard of living and quality of life; and "Patuloy na Pag-unlad" or sustainable growth and development.
The country's development plan, according to NEDA, contains seven main parts, which include an overview of the economy, development challenges that lie ahead, and development strategies.
These strategies are thoroughly articulated through Enhancing the Social Fabric, Inequality-Reducing Transformation, Increasing Growth Potential, Enabling and Supportive Economic Environment, and Foundations for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.
The provincial government has lined up activities for the roadshow including symposiums and forums on relevant topics, parade, poster-making contest, "Serbisyo para kay Juan at Juana" or people-centric services such as medical at dental missions, jobs fair, free haircut, among others. (PNA)
