Inter-agency cooperation key to successful NEcija rehab program

FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, PALAYAN, Nueva Ecija — An inter-agency cooperation continues to bring success to the anti-illegal drugs campaign, particularly in rehabilitation of confessed drug users, a ranking official said.
Dr. Nelson Dancel, medical center chief of the mega Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DATRC) here, said at least 50 residents of the huge facility would graduate in August after undergoing six months of rehabilitation process.
"They are presently undergoing evaluation process and they may graduate," Dancel said.
The patients are being treated as residents of the DATRC to help them regain normal life after falling victim to illegal drugs.
The DATRC, inaugurated by President Rodrigo Duterte as an important component of his war against drugs in November last year, was donated by a Chinese philantropist and established on a 10-hectare property of the Department of National Defense, particularly the Philippine Army's 7th Infantry Division here.
It is being managed by the Department of Health while the provincial government of Nueva Ecija provides security.
Recently, the foundation of women legislators from the House of Representatives donated sports equipment for the residents. The group pledged to extend further assistance.
"The rehabilitation center runs smoothly because of the cooperation of the inter-agency," Dancel said. (PNA)
