QC opens doors to displaced students of Marawi City

MANILA — Some 78 students from Marawi City, who were displaced by the conflict between government security forces and combined Maute and Abu Sayyaf terrorists group, were accommodated in Quezon City public schools, QC division of schools superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Quesada said on Friday.
Quesada said 73 of them came from Marawi City while 5 came from nearby towns of Lanao del Sur.
Based on reports send to Mayor Herbert Bautista, most of the transferees were admitted in public schools in District V and VI where Muslim communities can be found including Novaliches and Culiat.
She said the biggest transferees were recorded at Culiat Elementary School and Culiat High School in District V.
Nimfa Gabertan, the city schools' division special program supervisor said they could still accommodate displaced learners from the war-torn city in Mindanao until the end of this month.
"Wala namang problema kasi may sapat na bilang tayo ng mga silid-aralan sa Quezon City," Gabertan said. (PNA)
