Gov. Espino, mayors head for Japan for GeoCloud GIS training May 17, 2017 Share

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — A team from the provincial government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado I. Espino will leave for Japan on Thursday to attend a five-day international training related on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).
The group will attend the "2nd Knowledge Co-Creation Program (Private Partnership)" training to be held at Informatix Inc. in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa until May 23. Itg seeks to improve the DRRM–related operations with the GeoCloud, a Geographic Information System (GIS) from Japan being implemented in Pangasinan by the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
GeoCloud GIS allows users to manage data comprehensively for a more organized planning and resource utilization beneficial to disaster preparedness.
Attending the same training wit Governor Espino are Provincial Board Member Angel Baniqued, Jr., Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro, Management Information Services Officer Modesto Singson, Lingayen Mayor Josefina Castañeda and Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez.
Along with LGU – Pangasinan, the municipalities of Lingayen and Binmaley, and the city of Dagupan are the country's pilot areas of the JICA-implemented GeoCloud GIS.
Organized by Informatix Inc., the training likewise targets to upgrade the capability of information sharing with GeoCloud not only on DRRM, but also on city/town planning, engineering and other relevant disciplines.
Aside from showing actual cases on how the GeoCloud GIS is utilized in the cities of Kawasaki and Yokohama, experts will provide participants information on the uses of GeoCloud, and various applications and technologies of GIS.
The 1st GeoCloud implementation by JICA in the Philippines is entitled "A Verification Survey to Disseminate Japanese Technology for Integrated GIS for Advancement of Regional Disaster Prevention/GeoCloud Integrated GIS." (PNA)
