3 mild quakes rock Leyte

TACLOBAN — Three mild tremors jolted some parts of Leyte on Tuesday, but no reported damages.
The first ground shaking was recorded around 9:29 a.m. It was felt in Capoocan at Intensity IV), Kananga town at Intensity III, and Tabango town at Intensity II. It had a depth of five kilometers.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the epicenter of the earthquake with tectonic origin was located seven kilometers southwest of Capoocan, Leyte.
The town is 80 kilometers north from this city.
Also on Tuesday, Phivolcs reported a magnitude 3.3 earthquake with a depth of 17 kilometers. The tremor, which struck at 1:52 p.m., had its epicenter 24 kilometers southwest of Leyte, Leyte town.
It was followed with another magnitude 3.3 earthquake around 3:35 p.m. The epicenter was 13 kilometers northwest of Capoocan town. The depth was 14 kilometers.
The Office of Civil Defense in the region reported the ground shaking was only mild and no damages were reported in Leyte province. (PNA)
