2 dead, 11 arrested in anti-drug operations in 2 Lanao Sur towns

COTABATO — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) arrested 11 persons and seized high-powered firearms and prohibited drugs during a major anti-drug operation in two Lanao del Sur towns Wednesday, anti-drug officials today said.
Two drug suspects were also killed when they resisted the serving of search warrants against Baulo Anto, Cairodin Anto and Sultan Abdulla Pundogar in Maguing, Lanao del Sur.
In a report, PDEA-ARMM Director Bryan Babang said two government enforcers were injured following an hour-long firefight with the suspects. They were identified as Hanzel Rebadonia and Jomar San Agustin of the Philippine Navy.
The killed drug suspects were Cairodin Anto and Pango Anto.
However, the main targets of the operation, Baulo Anto and Sultan Abdullah Pundugar, were not around during the serving of the search warrant.
Recovered during the raid were one Armalite rifle, one rifle grenade, about 200 assorted ammunition for armalite rifles and other firearms and about 10 sachets of suspected shabu.
In another operation Wednesday morning in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, anti-narcotics operatives arrested 11 persons following a raid on a suspected drug den allegedly operated by Intisar Dipatuan in Barangay Cabasaran.
PDEA agents, backed by the Army's 603rd Infantry Brigade, also seized homemade firearms and six grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P75,000. Also seized were shabu paraphernalia.
Charges for violations of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2000 and RA 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and explosives were filed against the suspects. (PNA)
