Augmentation force to secure three Bangus Festival events

DAGUPAN — An augmentation force from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) will secure three crowd-drawing activities of the 2017 Dagupan Bangus Festival.
Supt. Franklin Ortiz, officer-in-charge of the Dagupan City police, said he sought an augmentation force to beef up the strength of the local police in manning the three events set to be flocked to by local and foreign tourists.
These are the Guilon-Guilon ed Baley, a streetdancing competition participated in by six clustered barangays set to draw the crowd in the streets on April 21; the Festivals of the North on April 26 and the Kalutan ed Dalan Street Party on April 30 where more than a million people are expected to participate.
Both the Gilon Gilong ed Dalan and the Festivals of the North will be held along Dagupan's downtown loop as well as at the city plaza for each participant's focal presentation.
Same will be done when Dagupan showcases the Festivals of the North set to be participated in by 10 streetdancing champions in festivals in their respective places.
Ortiz said they are not anticipating any untoward incidents to happen in any of these three big events but on the other hand, they do not want to be caught flat-footed, thus the need for adequate preparations.
Mayor Belen Fernandez called on the Dagupan police to do everything they can to secure this year's Bangus Festival so no one will be hurt.
The 2017 Bangus Festival kicked off on Easter Sunday at Tondaligan Park in a ceremony graced by Pangasinan Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia. (PNA)
