PNP-CIDG raids stores selling fake documents in Manila

MANILA — Operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) raided establishments making and selling fake documents in Recto, Manila on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Belly Tamayo, of the CIDG Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (ATCU), most of the documents being forged in Recto are driver's license, birth certificate, diplomas and all kinds of documents which are often used for employment purposes.
The CIDG operatives confiscated printing machines and some video karera machines near the area.
The individuals who are selling the fake documents will be charged with violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) for falsification of public documents.
A male and a female suspects will also be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 1602 for illegal gambling, who were arrested as the owners of the video karera and printing machines. (PNA)
