SC may render ruling on ex-President Arroyo's plunder case on Tuesday

The Supreme Court (SC) may render its decision on the plunder case of former President and now Pampanga (2nd District) Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The case involves the alleged misuse of the confidential intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) amounting to P366 million during the term of Mrs. Arroyo as President of the Republic.
The SC, in an en banc session, will tackle the case and that the magistrates may opt to cast their respective votes.
The SC will particularly tackle the petition of Mrs. Arroyo questioning the dismissal by the Sandiganbayan First Division of her motion for "demurrer to evidence".
Through the "demurrer to evidence", the camp of Mrs. Arroyo asked for the dismissal of the plunder case filed against her for lack of evidence of the prosecution.
If the SC grants the demurrer to evidence, it would mean that, Mrs. Arroyo will be absolved of the plunder case and her immediate release from hospital arrest.
Mrs. Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City due to her debilitating bone disease.
The trial on Mrs Arroyo's plunder case at the Sandiganbayan remains suspended after the SC issued a "status quo ante order" which was extended up to June 20, 2016. (PNA)
