A 6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes the coast of the South Pacific island of Vanuatu on Monday.
However, no tsunami warning was issued, said US Geological Survey.
According to a GeoScience Australia seismologist, although the quake produced a lot of surface water activity, it is less likely to cause tsunami for the quake was very shallow.
The depth of the quake was one kilometre (half a mile), around 61 kilometres Southwest of the capital Port Vila.
Vanuatu, an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean, belongs to the Pacific "Ring of Fire", a curve of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from South America through Alaska and down through the South Pacific. — ARA
