A pleasurable trip via Bulalacao-Magsaysay Road

If you are from the island of Mindoro and you have been away for a long time, you may still think that the only way to go to the western side of the island from the eastern side and vice-versa would be to take a boat to Batangas and take another boat ride to Occidental Mindoro.

Or, if you haven't been away that long, you may actually know that you can already go to Occidental Mindoro from Oriental Mindoro by land – except, you would still rather take the old route to Batangas and take that boat to Occidental Mindoro because the road condition between the two provinces is so bad you wouldn't mind doing the 'merry go round'.

Well, the condition of that road has already considerably changed as the pictures below would show.

If you have actually passed the road linking the town of Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro to Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro and this is the road that you remembered:



Then, that would not really be a good memory. The author of this piece himself punctured the gas tank of his pick-up vehicle on one of the boulders jutting out on the road the first time he negotiated it. The next time he passed along that same road from Oriental Mindoro, the lawyer he was with on the way to San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, flatly refused to ride with him on the way back and elected instead to take a 12 hour boat ride back to Batangas Port.
