Dengue cases in Central Luzon up by 284%

The Department of Health has confirmed that dengue cases in Central Luzon went up by 284 percent since January to August 6 this year. Result acquired is also higher than last year's record.

Among the provinces in Central Luzon, Bulacan has the most number of recorded cases with 2,259 followed by Nueva Ecija: 1,666, Pampanga: 1,390, Tarlac: 736, Bataan: 525, Zambales: 350 and Aurora: 43. All in all, 6,969 cases were recorded, the highest number in history.

The Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit reported a sum of 21 deaths with Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga having 5 casualties each, according to DOH Regional Information Officer Sherill Aure.

The DOH highlights the significance of cleaning not only the houses and schools but as well as other public places such as churches and markets as well as streets and public playgrounds as you cannot pinpoint where one gets bitten by a dengue-carrying mosquito.

Dengue is a disease caused by the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito which normally attacks during daytime.
