Former election official Virgilio Garcillano's camp stated on Sunday that no redemption has happened regarding the poll fraud issue.
"They refuse to accept the truth because they were unmasked that they were lying. The question is, did my client go to them? What for? Garcillano has no business and will not benefit at all in sending feelers to Secretary Llamas," said Garcillano's lawyer Eddie Tamondong referring to Political Affairs Secretary Ronald Llamas.
He stressed that his client revealed all about the alleged election cheating in the 2004 during the congressional hearings, and that these revelations already helped the current administration in persevering reforms in the society.
However, Garcillano said that he is not against the Aquino administration, and is also not concealing himself from authorities; he is just keeping himself away from the interviews.
Meanwhile, Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes is confident that sooner or later Garcillano will participate in the investigation.
"Whether as a witness or as a respondent, he will be forced to face the case or even just issue an affidavit or counter-affidavit," said Brillantes. — ARA
