GMA's lawyer: Bedol and Ampatuan are not credible

The lawyer of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo questioned the reliability of the statements of suspended Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor Zaldy Ampatuan and former Maguindanao election supervisor Lintang Bedol.

"What is the integrity and character of these two (Ampatuan and Bedol)? It's very clear that they want to be saved from the serious criminal charges they are facing," said Atty. Raul Lambino, Arroyo's legal spokesman.

Earlier Bedol and Ampatuan revealed the fraud in the 2004 and 2007 elections during Arroyo's term.

Lambino also said that what are they doing was "mind condtioning" done by the current administration.

The statements of Ampatuan and Bedol were done in unsigned affidavits that were given to the media, according to Lambino.

"Who prepared the affidavits for them?" he asked. "This is a well-funded, well-organized, well-orchestrated publicity against the former president," he said.

Arroyo is facing plunder cases filed by the Office of the Ombudsman for the supposed misuse of intelligence funds amounting to PhP325 million and the Department of Justice for plunder in connection with the PhP728 million fertilizer fund scam. — ARA
