The Philippine National Police is gearing up for the second State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III.
So far, the PNP has declared that they have not received any security threat for the event which is to happen on July 25.
"The PNP will ensure that the President's second SONA will be safe, secured and successful, we will thwart all possible threats," said PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo.
To secure the SONA, 1,500 policemen will be positioned on the streets, mainly in areas surrounding the Batasan complex of the House of Representatives in Quezon City, according to Bacalzo.
The PNP chief requested the public for the their continued support and cooperation by reporting suspicious-looking persons that they may observe in their area. He added that the conduct of checkpoints will be intensified prior to the event.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Regional Police Office Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said that they will be discussing their security arrangement for President Aquino's SONA after the assessment of the intelligence community submits their security plans. — ARA
