Labor groups press P-Noy for P125 wage hike

Various labor and cause-oriented groups have called on President Aquino to support the 125 Pesos across the board Daily wages hike for workers in view of the continuous rise in the prices on oil, transportation and basic commodities.

In a meeting held in UCCP shalom Center in Manila, members of the "Unity for 125 Pesos" alliance said that Mr. Aquino should show strong political will and certify the urgent house bills 3745 and 3746 which seek to grant substantial wage increases for both private and state workers.

"The massive erosion of jobs and livelihood of our people and the shrinking value of wages today were enough reasons why the government should implement a 125 Pesos wages increase now," Larry Jaca, head of the alliance said.

If the President will continue to disregard our demands for a 125 Pesos wage increase nationwide, P-NOY must brace for a duplication of strikes and worker actions all over the country in the days to come. — KWENG
