Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has signed a memorandum requiring its provincial workers to join the upcoming event Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN Philippines.
GREENNIN Philippines stands for Generation Redemption and Expansion of Natural resources INitiatives in the Philippines.
This event seeks to develop the forest cover of the country led by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc, as well as to persuade the public through running by planting native tree species that will turn into vibrant forests in the upcoming years.
It also aims to plant 100,000 native tree species from the 12,500 seedlings the Cebu Provincial Engineering and RAFI Native Tree Nursery in Busay, Cebu City.
Runners will have the option of running 1 km, 5km, or 8km. Tree planting follows within the five-hectare forestland on June 25 at Barangay Jaclutan, Talisay which is the central of the event.
The RAFI is in partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, local government units, as well as the various government institutions and corporate groups. — ARA
