La Union Police arrests two suspects in judge's murder

The Provincial Police Office of La Union recently held in custody two suspects connected to the murder of Vigan City Regional Trial Court Judge Reynaldo Lacasandile.

The suspects, however, were arrested primarily for illegal possession of firearms. The two were later found out, connected with the murder of Lacasandile in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur last October 4, 2010. The suspects were Candido Almazan Mitrado, 49 yrs old, and Peter Reyes Tagura, 52.

A .45-caliber Colt pistol with two magazines holding 14 live bullets were seized from Mitrado and another .45-caliber Colt pistol with one magazine containing five ammunitions and a fan knife were seized from Tagura.

The .45 caliber cartridges collected at the crime scene had a positive match on the ballistic markings of the collected .45 caliber of Tagura.

The suspects, in addition, were arrested with Order of Arrest issued by the national Capital Regional Trial Court, Branch 142 in Makati due to the secure coordination of police units, division of vital intelligence, and detailed surveillance. — ARA
