The president of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, Hon. Sarath Weerasekera expressed his confidence that Sri Lanka will beat the Azkals Philippine national team in their game in the Asian Football Confederation Challenge.
The first match will be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium that has a capacity of 25,000 on June 29.
However, the return match will be played at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on July 3.
Waarasekera said in an interview that he is sure that they willing "play attacking football" against the Azkals.
He stressed that Sri Lanka team is prepared "to adapt depending on the opposition strategy."
"Sri Lanka is a young team and is improving steadily. It did not qualify in the Nepal tournament but showed promise" Waarasekera added.
The coach of Sri Lanka team is Jang Jung of South Korea who has been handling the squad since October 2010.
The said team had a three week tour of South Korea to have an extensive training on 2010 with assistance from Korean Football Association.
Waaresekera meanwhile observed that the Azkals are a promising team in Association of Southeast Asian Nations they have qualified to play in the AFC Challenge Final rounds. — ARA
