Vice President Jejomar Binay submitted his recommendation to President Benigno Aquino III that ordered full military honors for the burial of Former President Ferdinand Marcos.
Instead of doing the interment service at the "Libangan ng mga Bayani," Binay proposed that it be done in Ilocos Norte.
However, Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that President Benigno Aquino III is still studying the recommendation on Marcos' burial issue.
She also said that the president declined to comment on the issue until Aquino makes public his decision on the matter.
"Again, alalahanin natin na kaya tinalaga ni Pangulong Aquino si Vice President Binay na magbigay ng recommendation sa issue dahil sa personal history at involvement ni Pangulong Aquino at involvement ng kanyang pamilya at history nila involving the Marcoses," she added.
Aquino distanced himself in the said issue as he was the son of Former President Corazon Aquino and Former Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. who were not in favor with the dictatorial leadership of Marcos.
Meanwhile, the widowed wife of Marcos, Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos considered Sarrat town as his husband's burial place. "Maybe there is a divine plan as to where Marcos will be buried. And I am now in Sarrat, his birthplace," she said. — ARA
