Child Labor cases reaches to 2,495 in Quezon Province

The Department of Labor and Employment in Quezon Province and the International Labor Organization reported that about 1,453 children are working in hazardous conditions.

About 1,042 children are also considered to be part of child labor cases in Quezon Province.

According to the information of Provincial Council on Child Labor, the high incidence of children working in hazardous situation in towns and the province of Quezon showed that Lucena has 754 cases, Catanuan has 356, and Calauag 343.

The report also showed that there are about 2,513 children working children allowed under the Children Labor Code law in Lucena. Catanuan has 620 and Calauag, 602.

However, the PCCL is taking initiatives to help the children by providing their parents with employment or livelihood so they could send their children back to school as well as to take care of the children's health and nutrition. — ARA
