The Badminton World Federation (BWF) indefinitely suspended their rule mandating women players to wear skirts during competitions.
According to Women in Badmintons Committee Head Nora Perry, they have been receiving various feedbacks from the previous quarters regarding this rule, and that wearing skirts during competitions for some suggest sexism. Thus, after taking into account all these comments, especially those from the athletics commission, the federation has come up with a new wardrobe regulation.
"It is still our intention to focus on a better presentation of the game, but we will like to broaden the scope to include both men and women, and the feedback will also include views from various stakeholders such as the clothing manufacturers", said Nora Perry.
The new ruling was to take effect May 1, but has been rescheduled June 1 after being held by debates. — ARA
