The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)is set to employ 227 workers from Eastern Visayas for their Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino project.
Participants, coming from different parts of the region: Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran and Leyte, were grouped into four: Two groups of Social Welfare Assistants, a group of Project Development Officers, and a group of Bookkeepers and Administrative officers.
Orientation for the Social Welfare Assistants (SWA) and Project Development Officers were held in La Rica Hotel, while Municipal Roving Bookkeepers, Senior Bookkeepers, Administrative Assistants, Administrative Officer and Human Resource Officers attended orientation at the Department of Agrarian Reform Training Center, and another group of SWA's held theirs at SMED Center, Capitol Grounds, Tacloban City.
The DSWD spearheaded the seminar in order to inform the public, particularly the participants of their existing projects.
Leticia Corillo, Director of DSWD Region 8 is positive that after this batch they will be hiring more workers from Eastern Visayas. However, she clarified that the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program is only aimed at creating job opportunities and is not a tool to alleviate poverty. — ARA
