The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded 115 volcanic quakes in Taal volcano, Batangas during the last 24 hours.
Phivolcs said that 12of these quakes were felt at Intensity IIV by residents of Pira-piraso, Alas-as and Calauit located at northeast, southwest and southeast sectors of Volcano Island.
According to PHIVOLCS, still Alert Level 2 on Taal Volcano, indicating that magma has been intruding towards the surface.
However, the public is should stay away at the main crater, Daang Kastila Trail, and Mt. Tabaro due to the sudden hazardous steam-driven explosions that may occur and high concentrations of toxic gases which may cause breathing problems in humans and animals.
Moreover, PHIVOLCS reminds the public that the entire volcano island is still within the permanent danger zone.
The agency will keep on monitoring the activities of Mt. Taal, and report to the public any new development. — ARA
