The Department of Trade and Industry have started to implement a modified scheme for the inspection and marking of ICC stickers on helmets to ensure the convenience of the motorcycle riders.
The modified scheme is based on the first letter of owner's surname and last digit of motorcycle plate, a press statement from DTI said.
In the modified coding scheme, the schedule of application for inspection and ICC marking will be based on the owner surname's first letter.
Helmet owners with surnames starting with letters A to F can apply during the month of September; those with last names starting with letters G to O are scheduled in October; while surnames starting with P to Z are assigned in November.
The letter coding scheme is in addition to the number coding scheme currently implemented by DTI. The schedule of helmet inspection and ICC marking according to the last digit of motorcycle plate: 1 and 2 (Monday), 3 and 4 (Tuesday), 5 and 6 (Wednesday), 7 and 8 (Thursday), 9 and 0 (Friday).
The modified scheme works in this way: helmet owners whose surname start with letter M and with motorcycle plates end with number 5, can apply on Wednesdays in the month of October.
DTI urged the motorcycle owners to have their helmets inspected and marked with Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers to avoid penalties which will be imposed by Land Transportation Office (LTO) starting January 1, 2013.
Riders must bring the following requirements for helmet inspection and ICC marking: Motorcycle helmet, two copies of filled-out application form, any government-issued IDs, photocopy of government-issued ID, and photocopy of motorcycle registration.
DTI reminds the public that application form and processing for the ICC is free of charge.

DTI Area Office, Hi-way 54 Plaza, 986 Stanford St., EDSA, Quezon City (infront of SM Megamall)
DTI CAMANAVA Area Office, 5F Araneta Square Mall, Bonifacio Monument Circle, Rizal Ave. Ext. cor. Samson Rd., Caloocan City
DTI announced that it also conducts helmet inspection in private companies and government agencies. Companies may send their request for schedule until September 30, 2012. -
