Palace creates committee for Sec. Robredo's funeral

The Office of the President has created under Memorandum Circular No. 36 an inter-agency committee to organize the funeral and interment of the late Jesse Robredo, secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Under the circular issued today, a Committee on Funeral Arrangements and Burial was formed for the State to formally honor and recognize the late secretary, who died in a tragic plane crash last August 18.

The circular added that these honors to be bestowed "must be done in accordance with law, wishes of the bereaved family of the late Secretary, and the fullest participation of the agencies he headed and the people he represented."

The committee is composed of the following offices: DILG, Office of the Executive Secretary, Presidential Management Staff, Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office, Office of the Presidential Spokesperson, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Office of Presidential Protocol, Malacañang Social Office, Appointments Office and the
Presidential Security Group.

Aside from this, the circular also said that the committee might call other government entities and enjoin the support of the private sector and nongovernmental organizations to assist in the performance of its functions. - Official Gazette — ARA
