The local government of Antipolo together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Nadeia Sarte led the distribution of relief goods to 200 evacuees of Sitio Pandayan, Inarawan temporarily housed at the Sitio Pandayan Hills Chapel, Inarawan last August 8.
Antipolo City Mayor Nilo Leyble assured the evacuees of government support and assistance and promised to provide them safe and comfortable shelter during their ordeal.
"Nandito po ang ating lokal na pamahalaan upang magbigay ng anumang tulong na ating ipaaabot sa mga apektadong pamilya. Umasa kayo na sa pagtutulungan ng lahat ng ahensiya ng pamahalaan, departamento at iba pang sektor muli kayong makakaahon. (The city government is here to provide assistance to affected families. Expect that with the coordination between government agencies, department and other sectors, you will be able to overcome this.)," Mayor Leyble said.
Meanwhile, classes in all levels, both public and private, were suspended by the local government as early as August 6, Monday evening. The national government on the other hand suspended all work in both government and private sector on Tuesday, August 7. -
