Healthy lifestyle is no longer limited to exercise, eating vegetables, and having enough sleep. According to a study from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, to be healthy, people should avoid telling little white lies.
About 110 participants were ordered to avoid telling either major or minor lies for 10 weeks. The control team was given no particular directions about lying. While those in the no-lie group told three fewer white lies than in other weeks, they reported less of headaches, sore throats, tenseness, anxiety, and other problems than those in the control group.
Lead author Anita E. Kelly said in a recent press release, "Recent evidence indicates that Americans average about 11 lies per week."
Kelly said, participants could purposefully and dramatically reduce their everyday lies, and that in turn was associated with significantly improved health.
Moreover, another way of avoiding lying is keeping oneself away from exaggerating the truth about every day accomplishments and not making fake excuses for running late or not finishing tasks. — ARA
