The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has changed its rainfall warning system, replacing "green" with "orange."
Effective today onward, the classification is now Yellow, Orange and Red instead of Yellow, Green and Red.
Pagasa said the current colors are associated with awareness (yellow), preparedness (orange) and emergency (red).
Under code yellow, residents in target areas are advised to monitor news for further updates. The "yellow warning," which means "caution," represents 7.5-15 mm rain in an hour which could also cause flooding.
Orange, which replaces green, pertains to preparation for possible evacuation. The warning stands for 15-30 mm rain in an hour that is expected to continue within the next two hours.
Lastly, red is more than 30 mm of rain observed in an hour and is expected to continue for the next two. Evacuation is also underway. -
