DPWH Usec denounces extortionists

Undersecretary of Public Works and Highways Rafael C. Yabut is denouncing unscrupulous individuals using his name allegedly soliciting sponsorship to finance Philippine National Police commemorative plates.

"Some DPWH district engineers are calling me to inform on the presence of these persons going to their offices using my name to solicit sponsorship for PNP commemorative plates. I am not in any way involved in any fund raising nor solicitation for any purpose, be it for goodwill or other purposes," said Undersecretary Yabut. Undersecretary Yabut is in-charge of supervising foreign-assisted projects in the DPWH.

These reports initiated Undersecretary Yabut to issue a memorandum to all DPWH regional directors, project directors, district engineers, other officials, and employees informing them not to deal with these unscrupulous persons.

Earlier, Secretary of Public Works and Highways Rogelio L. Singson also issued a strong statement denouncing such individuals similarly using his name to solicit funds for a hoax golf tournament and facilitating the inclusion of projects in the DPWH program. - Official Gazette — ARA
