The city government of Maasin invited the former Philippine Basketball Association players to an exhibition game, as one of the activities for the forthcoming 12th Charter Day celebration of Maasin.
Mayor Maloney Samaco in the radio program said that Maasin invited the group for an exhibition on August 7. The PBA legends who confirmed include Alvin Patrimonio, Johnny Abarrientos, and Balingit.
The ex-PBA players will play against the former players from the locality who now works in different places including abroad.
The city government did not confirm yet the entrance fee of the invitational basketball game. "The proceeds of the ticket sales will defray the athletes' food, transportation, and accommodation," Samaco said.
He added that the rest of the ticket sales will support other sports activities such as the forthcoming regional paralympics on September.
It was learned that the former basketball players will also receive an honorarium in the amount of Php 250,000 basing on the budget proposed for the charter day celebration. A total of Php 3 million was allocated for Maasin City's 12th Charter Day celebration that falls on the 10th of August.
Other activities for the city's charter day celebration include Pabulhon Festival, Ajonay Festival, Anniversary Queen Search, Special Friends' Night, Liga Night, concerts featuring Melissa Ricks, Marissa Sanchez, Marcelito Pomoy, the Maasinhon Trio, among others.
This year's 12th Charter Day celebration of Maasin City carries the theme, "Maasinhon Ajonay sa Asenso Magpatunhay." -
