Six months after typhoon "Sendong" hit Region X, survivors are now leading normal lives in their new homes in relocation cites in Calaanan, Cagayan de Oro City (left) and in Iligan City (right).
As of June 30, the Department of Social Welfare and Development said that 1,334 houses have been built in the different relocation sites in Cagayan de Oro City of which 1,242 are being occupied by family-beneficiaries while the remaining 92 are still being raffled off. On the other hand, 1,244 are under various phases of construction. Some 4,791 houses are expected to be constructed in Cagayan de Oro City alone.
The DSWD, various non-government organizations, business sector, local government of Cagayan de Oro City , and volunteers from around the country have joined hands to create a new community for the survivors of typhoon "Sendong. -
