Fifty-seven households will now have a roof over their heads when the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III and Gov. Lilia Pineda turnover today 57 permanent core shelters to the victims of the 2009 Mt. Arayat landslide in Brgy. San Juan Baño, Arayat town.
DSWD provided Php 70,000 each for housing materials, totaling Php 3,99,000 while labor was shouldered by the provincial government.
Pineda said the National Housing Authority will provide about Php 10 million for site improvement and development of the area.
She added that NHA would be in-charge of the construction of road pavement, water system, electricity, and other facilities.
Meanwhile, DSWD will also work for the construction of additional 100 core shelters while the provincial government will continuously support the project through providing the labor counterpart.
In 2010, the provincial government had provided the landslide victims with 64 bunkhouses amounting Php 5.7 million.
Other family victims will also be housed in bunkhouses vacated by the beneficiaries of core shelters provided by the DSWD.
