Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman said that social workers from DSWD-Region I have conducted a home visit to the fishermen who were rescued in Bolinao, Pangasinan to provide stress debriefing and appropriate assistance.
Secretary Soliman added that the DSWD has initially extended P5,000 financial assistance and family food packs to the families of the eight fishermen.
In a coordination meeting between DSWD-Region I and the local government of Bolinao, it was agreed that the affected fishermen will be given livelihood assistance. DSWD social workers and their counterparts at the local social welfare office will jointly implement the provision of livelihood assistance to the fishermen.
Likewise, a stress debriefing session was conducted at the Office of the Mayor to help the fishermen cope with the effects of the traumatic incident. Subsequent sessions will be conducted to ensure that their psycho-social functioning will be restored.
It was learned that two of the fishermen are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program. -
