The Department of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Philippine National Red Cross and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies will conduct a Workshop on International Disaster Response Laws.
The workshop is happening on June 26 at Carlos P. Garcia Room, Department of Foreign Affairs building.
The Workshop aims to familiarize relevant stakeholders with the core concepts of IDRL and the guidelines for domestic facilitation and regulation of international disaster relief and initial recovery assistance (also known as IDRL Guidelines).
Key participants in this workshop will include representatives from the Department of Finance, Bureau of Customs, the Department of Health, the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Department of Justice, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the National Economic and Development Authority, and the Office of Civil Defense/National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The Workshop is also intended to assist the Philippines in its efforts to produce an international cooperation humanitarian emergency assistance manual.
The international/external component of disaster assistance in the Philippines is essentially under the purview of the DFA, while the internal component is handled by other government agencies. -
