Angono locals planted more than 100 trees this morning at the local Materials Recovery Facility, Angono, Rizal in celebration of Arbor Day.
Arbor Day is a worldwide event celebrated annually (every June 25) where groups and individuals are encouraged to plant trees. Proclamation No. 396 of June 2, 2003 enjoins the active participation of all government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, private sector, schools, civil society groups, and the citizenry in tree planting activities in line with Arbor Day to promote the re-greening and rehabilitation of the environment.
The municipal government of Angono headed by Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Emil Pascion led the tree planting activity.
Municipal employees of Angono, local Philippine National Police personnel, barangay officials, and citizens also participated in planting trees to promote environmental awareness and concern for the surroundings.
Aside from the tree planting, the usual flag ceremony was also held at the MRF instead of the Municipal Hall. -
