As a part of Marikina's campaign against illegal drugs, an exhibit dubbed "Iwas Droga" is set to launch Friday, June 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Marikina Cityhood Park.
Marikina City Vice Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz will lead the launching of the exhibit that aims to inform, showcase the city's campaigns, as well as highlight the city's accomplishments against illegal drugs.
"We are inviting everyone to visit our exhibit and be informed what drugs are and the bad effects of drug use to the human body," Cadiz said.
The exhibit will also feature images of the other programs of the Office of the Vice Mayor to include: Dalaw Kay Lolo and Lola, Dalaw Kay Batang K, Handog Ngiti, Youth Outreach Program Against Drug Abuse (YOPADA) Three-point shoot-out, and medical missions.
Meanwhile, the caravan will also roll out in different venues in the city to allow more residents to view the exhibit. On June 24, the exhibit will be held at the barangay hall of Barangay Barangka then back to the Cityhood Park on June 26.
In July, the exhibit will also tour different public and private elementary and secondary schools, as well as colleges in Marikina. Each visit in school will last for one week.
"It is important that students, at their young age, become aware of the negative effects of drugs to our body so they'll be able to stay away from it," Cadiz added. -
