Despite the unfavorable weather, more than 10,000 job seekers joined the 2012 Kalayaan Day Job Fair held at the Lagoon Area, Rizal Park, Manila on Tuesday.
Department of Labor and Employment Spokesperson Nicon F. Fameronag said a total of 149 employers and 40,758 vacancies were offered. Around 10,605 job applicants registered during the one-day job fair, counting 6,160 male and 4,445 female.
More than 30 licensed recruitment agencies joined the event offering around 25,000 jobs in top destinations like Australia, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Brunei.
Jop opportunities were offered by companies engaged in BPO & call center, Manufacturing and Marketing, Food Service, Retail & Trade, Health & Wellness, Real Estate, Information Technology, Insurance, Automotive and Services.
A total of 3,665 applicants qualified or referred during the event, of which 669 were hired on the spot. Only 27 employers or companies offered HOTS position during the job fair.
The Kalayaan Job Fair is part of the 114th Philippine Independence Day Celebration spearheaded by the DoLE, with attached agencies Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. -
